Sanatan Sanskriti Objectives

As Indians living in the USA, we all share a common concern. How do we get a sense of "family and friends" so far away from India? How do we deal with "being different" both for ourselves and more importantly, for our children, and the need to carry on the rich Hindu tradition and culture? As an answer to this problem, parent volunteers have set up the concept of Sanatan Sanskriti. It was started 20 years ago and over the years has provided the place for children to meet and learn our culture and the richness of Hinduism.

The by-laws of Sanatan Sanskriti state the following:
"The purposes and activities of Sanskriti will be to benefit the youth, who wish to learn about and participate in Indian traditions, culture, languages and in the Hindu philosophy"

Based on the above purpose, the main objectives of Sanskriti are to provide a forum where:

  1. Children can gather and form a social network where they can meet other children from similar backgrounds, values, religion and culture

  2. Such children can learn the principles and concepts of the Hindu tradition

  3. Such children can learn the significance of Hindu culture, customs and practices in a joyous and enriching manner

  4. Such children can learn moral and practical values that they can use in everyday life

  5. All children can join together to worship in the Hindu tradition

  6. Cultural functions can be arranged to celebrate religious traditions and children can participate to demonstrate their learning and skills
